Association of Intentional Communities Australia Inc

AICA was set up to provide promote the development of a nurturing society. It arose out of the Intentional Communities movement, but its remit has been broadened to include all forms of community living and enterprise.
Its main aim is to build a network of like-minded people, committed to building a nurturing society. It is providing a space where people can gather to tell their stories, to collaborate, to exchange ideas and wisdom, and to build the sustainable social enterprises that will underpin and create the nurturing society.
It is currently assisting in the creation of Centres/Hubs where these communities can be built in South Australia with a view to expanding these out to the rest of Australia.
Presentation: Co-operative community ownership and financing
The current system has failed everyone except for the top 1%.
The current economic and social system is based on outmoded and counter-productive forms of ownership.
It has been based on a misleading narrative of survival of the fittest., rather than a true evolutionary system. Individual (or corporate) ownership is the foundation stone of the system, alienating us from the land and from each other.
As a result, we have a system based on competing interests and win-lose situations, rather than an adaptive, co-operative system based on win-win outcomes.
To build the regenerative economy and a sustainable nurturing society
we must develop alternative models for genuine community ownership and sustainable enterprise. The presentation discusses these alternative models and how we might introduce them into society.
